Lorelines – David Chatton Barker

This beautifully illustrated limited edition 166 page book is an amalgamation of David’s work created during his artist residency for the Spodden Valley Revealed project. It explores the anthropology, archaeology, legends and lore of the moors surrounding Brown Wardle Hill in the Vale of Whitworth. It is packed with the stories of this landscape, told in new and beautiful ways, the result of a wealth of work and research well beyond our expectations for the residency. David used the stories from this land to create an audio story, a puppet show telling the eerie tale of the Queen of the Well, a unique documented walk, beer mats with snippets of stories distributed in pubs, libraries and other community hubs, and much more. This publication occupies some place between history and art, folklore, performance and documentation. It is most certainly a fascinating read!
